Old physical art card collector compares physical to digital
As someone who collected Fleer Marvel Spider-Man art trading cards, I was torn downloading this. I have over 400 physical cards and I feel some of these digital cards art isn't as good as some of the old Fleer cards. I'm not saying the art isn't is good for every card but I'm saying the high level digital cards that are supposed to be worth the most are not as good as the physical ones of the same rarity.
I hate to compare the digital to the physical because the digital simply won't have the preciosity physical Fleer cards will. You can do so much more with a physical card than you can with a digital card like textures, gold leafing, holograms, or different card materials that add to the inherent value of the card.
Physical cards are more expensive simply because they are physical and need to be printed out on to physical paper which is a limited resources, and digital bits are unlimited so you can make a billion digital cards for a fraction of a fraction of the price it would take to make the same amount of physical cards.
My hope is that if this digital system is successful they will see the value in reprinting physical cards. As I was devastated when they stopped printing them in favor of the " magic the gathering clone " game cards and what I called "screenshot cards" from the, at the time, new movie studio that would eventually become the MCU.
Does anyone here have any experience with the old physical trading cards and if so what value do you get out of the digital cards?
I collected my cards mainly because of the art and if the art isn't as good then I'm struggling to find a reason to keep playing.
Does anyone know if they plan on upgrading the style of art in the future or at least introducing a different more artistically minded set of cards? I would love to support this game I want it to be successful so any help people can give me to enjoy this system, I will gladly accept.
A glimpse at my collection. https://imgur.com/NQJoJTP
